# Profiles

A profile is a second InboxMinder, completely separate: its own mailbox,
settings, keys, index, voice and background agent. Use one when you mind
`support@` and `hi@` from the same Mac, or a work and a personal account.
One license covers every profile on a Mac.

## Create one

From the terminal, with any name except `default`:

```bash
inboxminder --profile support init
inboxminder --profile support up
inboxminder --profile support license activate <key>
```

`init` asks the same questions as the first setup. `up` authorizes Gmail
for that mailbox (your browser opens; sign in with the second account),
builds its index and installs its own agent. Every command takes
`--profile <name>` before the command name; `INBOXMINDER_PROFILE=<name>`
does the same for scripts.

```bash
inboxminder profiles
```

lists the default profile and every other one with its agent state.

## What is separate

| Thing | Default profile | Profile `support` |
|---|---|---|
| Config | `~/.config/inboxminder/config.toml` | `~/.config/inboxminder/profiles/support/config.toml` |
| Data, index, log | `~/.inboxminder/` | `~/.inboxminder/profiles/support/` |
| Keychain service | `inboxminder` | `inboxminder.support` |
| launchd agent | `com.inboxminder.agent` | `com.inboxminder.agent.support` |

Two secrets are shared on purpose: the Google OAuth client (an app
credential, not an identity) and the AI provider keys fall back to the
base service when the profile has none of its own, so you create the
Google app once and pay one provider. Gmail tokens, the license entry and
connector or MCP tokens never fall back; a fallback there would bind a
profile to the wrong mailbox.

For a Workspace "Internal" Google app both mailboxes must be on the same
domain; otherwise make the app External and add both addresses as test
users.

## In the app

The menu bar shows one section per profile, each with its own status,
activity and queues. **Preferences** and **Sources** open for the profile
you chose; the window title and the footer of each name it.

## Remove one

```bash
inboxminder --profile support agent uninstall
```

then delete `~/.inboxminder/profiles/support`,
`~/.config/inboxminder/profiles/support` and the `inboxminder.support`
Keychain items, and revoke the Google permission for that account.
