# Uninstall

Nothing InboxMinder does lives anywhere but your Mac, your Gmail labels
and drafts, and your Google account's permission list, so removing it is
a short list. Deactivate your license first if you want to use it on
another Mac.

## 1. Deactivate the license (optional)

**Preferences → Gatekeeper → License → Deactivate This Mac**, or

```bash
inboxminder license deactivate
```

This frees the key for another Mac. Skip it if you are only reinstalling.

## 2. Stop and remove the agent

From the menu bar: **Quit Completely** stops the agent. To remove it:

```bash
inboxminder agent uninstall
```

(The CLI is bundled in the app; see [Command line](cli.md#running-it) for
the alias. Do this before deleting the app.) For every extra profile,
`inboxminder --profile <name> agent uninstall`. If the app is already gone,
delete `~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.inboxminder.agent*.plist` and run
`launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u)/com.inboxminder.agent`.

## 3. Delete the app and its data

```bash
rm -rf /Applications/InboxMinder.app
rm -rf ~/.inboxminder
rm -rf ~/.config/inboxminder
```

`~/.inboxminder` holds the state database, the index, the status file and
logs; `~/.config/inboxminder` your settings, instructions and notes. If you
pointed `[answers]` or `[docs]` at folders of your own, those are yours and
untouched.

## 4. Remove the Keychain items

Open Keychain Access, search for `inboxminder`, and delete every item
whose service is `inboxminder` or `inboxminder.<profile>`: Google tokens,
provider keys, connector tokens, the license key. Or from the terminal:

```bash
security delete-generic-password -s inboxminder -a gmail-tokens
```

repeated per account name (`anthropic`, `openai`, `gmail-client-id`,
`gmail-client-secret`, `license`, …), or simply delete them all in
Keychain Access.

## 5. Revoke the Google permission

At [myaccount.google.com/permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions),
remove the app you created. Optionally delete the OAuth client or the whole
project in the Google Cloud console.

## What stays in Gmail

Labels the app created (Pending, Resolved, Urgent, the categories, Follow
up/…, Ready for follow-up, Assign/…) and any unsent drafts it wrote. Remove
labels in Gmail's settings; deleting a label never deletes mail. Drafts
are in your Drafts folder to keep or discard.

Nothing remains anywhere else, because nothing was ever sent anywhere else.
